The ACLC will be considering and voting on a proposed amendment to our bylaws at the February 21st, 2023 General Member Meeting. You can review the proposed amendment below. The purpose of the amendment is twofold. First, the sections on “Respect and Dignity” and “Conflict Resolution” are intended to ensure every member feels comfortable participating in the ACLC’s work. Second, the remaining two sections are intended to bolster democracy within the ACLC.

In Section 3, would it be clearer if it read as follows?
…either approved by a majority of the membership IN ATTENDANCE at a general membership meeting or BY the ACLC Executive Board at a monthly meeting or via email. The Board shall adopt positions, policies, and viewpoints via email ONLY in cases where a decision needs to be made…
In Section 4, does this wording work?
…At the same time, ACLC respects individual creativity and initiative and acknowledges the right of members to disagree with one another.
