          Support UF OPS Workers!
The ACLC has been campaigning to improve the treatment of OPS (so-called "temporary") workers at the University of Florida. The spark of this campaign was how OPS workers were denied pay during Hurricane Irma while all other UF employees were given administrative leave.  You can sign our petition about Hurricane Irma here. Beyond this, OPS workers (who are disproportionately people of color) are on average paid far less than UF's TEAMS, or "permanent," employees and receive no benefits - not even payments into Social Security. To learn more about the conditions faced by OPS workers, you can read our white paper:
The graphs below show some of the racial inequities faced by OPS workers and the lengths of time non-student Hourly OPS workers are kept in their "temporary" positions.
To join our campaign for OPS workers - come to our Living Wage Meeting! We'll also be talking about the push for a living wage at Santa Fe and giving updates about the City of Gainesville, Alachua County School Board, and other large employers in Alachua County.
