The ACLC will be participating in the University of Florida's Social Justice Summit On Saturday we'll be tabling from 11:30 - 12:15 and our coordinator, Timothy Tia, will be representing the ACLC on a Community Partnership Panel at 1:30. Come out to our monthly membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 30th, to hear about the upcoming State Legislative session. Our speakers will be: Madres Sin Fronteras, County Commissioner Mike Bylerly, Sandy Parker from Indivisible Gainesville, and Scott Darius from Florida Voices for Health. The meeting will take place at Emmanuel Mennonite Church (1236 NW 18 Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609).  Food and drinks available starting at 6pm, meeting gets underway at 6:30.  The Facebook listing is here if you'd like to invite others.
Gainesville's School Crossing Guards and other part-time and underpaid city workers will be speaking to the City Commission regarding lack of pay during Hurricane Irma, lagging pay for bus drivers, and a culture of continued hiring by the City of part-time and temporary workers that do not get paid any benefits.
